International Cocoa Agroforestry Symposium 2020
10 - 12 MARCH, 2020, Mont FEBE, Yaoundé, CAMEROON
WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL COCOA AGROFORESTRY SYMPOSIUM 2020
Bridging the gap between Science, Development and Policy
The concept of SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION in the new paradigm shift from traditional to modern business cocoa farming will have to be re-defined to highlight RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION. This element is to address the issues of planting cocoa with trees, zero tolerance for deforestation and forest degradation, innovative approaches to the management of pest and disease, financing and rehabilitation of over-aged and diseased plantations, amongst others.
Using Cameroon as the birth of cocoa agroforestry Systems in West Africa, we will review all agroforestry practices in Cameroon and highlight the benefits of these practices to be recognized and value in the cocoa supply chain, nationally, regionally and internationally.
Review the contribution of cocoa agroforestry systems in supporting responsible and sustainable cocoa production and reflect on the policy implications.
